Sophie Kauer is a British-German cellist and actress, born inLondon in 2001. She is studying for a BA in Classical CelloPerformance at the Norwegian Academy of Music, with renownedcellist Torleif Thedeén. Previously she studied at the Junior RoyalAcademy of Music in London on a scholarship.
Sophie was recently selected from hundreds of cellists worldwidefor a leading role in thefilm TÁR, written and directed by Todd Field,starring Cate Blanchett as an orchestral conductor. Sophie providedlive performances for thefilm, including playing with the DresdenPhilharmonie. She has also recorded music with the LondonSymphony Orchestra for the soundtrack album. Released byDeutsche Grammophon in October 2022, it went to No.1 in the USClassical Billboard chart.
