Rolando Fernández

Born in 1990, raised in a family of Cuban and Mexican musicians, Rolando Fernández Lara is already a great cellist with a more than promising future. He made his solo debut with the Querétaro Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of 10. Since then he was awarded in numerous international competitions: he won in 2009 the special prize of the “Carlos Prieto” International Cello Competition; he received in 2013 an honorable mention at the “Leos Janacek” International Cello Competition in the Czech Republic; in 2014 he won the third prize of the “Amsterdam cello Biennale” competition and the prize of the Kronberg Academy; in 2017 he got second place in the International Cello Competition “Anton Rubinstein” in Dusseldorf, Germany. In 2019 he was selected to participate in the prestigious International Tchaikovsky Competition in Saint Petersburg, Russia and in 2020 he was invited by Alondra de la Parra to be part of The Impossible Orchestra.
