The Mexican tenor Rolando Villazón has established himself as one of the most influential figures in today’s operatic world, both for the communicative intensity of his singing and for the breadth of his artistic activity. Trained at the Conservatorio Nacional de México and distinguished at Operalia 1999, his international career has taken him to the world’s leading opera houses — the Metropolitan Opera, the Wiener Staatsoper, and the Teatro alla Scala — under the baton of major conductors.

His wide-ranging repertoire is marked by stylistic rigor and dramatic commitment. Since 2011, he has also developed a solid career as a stage director. An exclusive artist with Deutsche Grammophon, he has further built a significant presence in the media and in literature. He is currently Artistic Director of the Fundación Mozarteum Salzburgo, from where he promotes a renewed interpretation of Mozart’s legacy.
